Emlen Physick Estate

Emlen Physick Estate
Give your students a "kids' eye" view of the Victorian era during an interactive tour of the Emlen Physick Estate, Cape May's only Victorian house museum. Built in 1879, this Stick Style mansion is attributed to renowned Victorian architect Frank Furness, and is furnished to reflect daily life in a turn-of-the-century household. Your students can explore both the world of luxury and leisure and the working world of servants who made it all possible. Changing seasonal exhibits in the period rooms provide your students with a glimpse of the daily life experienced by Victorian Americans. Each tour takes approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on the students' attention span. Teacher resource kits with classroom activities are available.
A museum shop offering a treasure trove of books, including resource and reference materials, and related Victoriana is housed in the Physick Estate's Carriage House.
